DESTIN — The city od Destin is partnering with Nextdoor, a free government interface to communicate with the neighborhoods served.

As part of Destin's initiative to build stronger communities, improve quality of life and work make neighborhoods an even better place to live, Nextdoor will play an integral role to achieve those goals. The platform will allow the city to communicate initiatives and share information with specific neighborhoods and residents using Nextdoor, which will receive those messages automatically.

“This is a great tool for our community that encourages 'reliable' online information and lets our citizens know what is happening in their neighborhoods,” Destin City Manager Lance Johnson said.

Nextdoor is a private, social network for neighborhoods that share information ranging from public safety and community events to lost pets and other items of interest. Each neighborhood has its own private Nextdoor neighborhood website accessible only to residents who have verified that they live within that neighborhood.

Neighborhoods establish and self-manage their own Nextdoor website. Destin will not be able to access residents’ websites, contact information or content. Please keep in mind that Nextdoor is not continually monitored, and if you need police or emergency services call 911.
