DESTIN — A Destin woman and an Arizona man were killed Saturday night in a two-car collision that sent three other people to the hospital, authorities said.
The wreck occurred just short of the Marler Bridge in Destin about 6:20 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
A 2002 Dodge Caravan was on the private driveway of the Eglin Air Force Base All Airman Club and approaching the intersection with U.S. Highway 98. Inside was the driver, a 57-year-old man from Golden Valley, Arizona, and three passengers, two of whom were from Loves Park, Illinois. The third passenger also was from Golden Valley.
Approaching from the east was a 2010 Nissan Altima driven by 58-year-old Shari Ward of Destin.
The Dodge pulled into the intersection and was struck by the Nissan, the FHP said.
Both drivers were killed. The identity of the Arizona man was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The two passengers in the van from Illinois both suffered minor injuries, while the third was listed in critical condition at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, FHP said.
