OKALOOSA ISLAND — A 17-year-old boy who was pulled from the Gulf of Mexico near Eglin Beach Park on Saturday is expected to make a full recovery, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

Jhian Belen, of Enterprise, Alabama, began struggling in the water about 3 p.m. After he was pulled to shore, two off-duty nurses began CPR and Belen eventually coughed up water and began to breathe on his own, the Sheriff's Office said in a press release. 

He was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in critical condition, but as of Sunday was expected recover, the release said.
