Veterans across the Emerald Coast are about to rock the boat.

The Emerald Coast Association of Realtors (ECAR), in conjunction with local charter boat captains and businesses, will treat combat-wounded veterans to a day of sport fishing and feasting during the seventh annual Soldiers on the Water event on Sept. 21.

Each year, ECAR hosts combat-wounded veterans for a day of world-class fishing in recognition of their sacrifice with the hope of encouraging independence, fostering connections within the community and promoting healing and wellness through camaraderie and the sport of fishing.

This year’s event will include fishing, tournament prizes and activities for more than 150 combat-wounded veterans and over 65 family members and caretakers.

After the fishing expedition, veterans will be recognized with awards including “biggest catch” and “most catches,” as well as a dinner at Brotula’s Seafood House & Steamer, including cooking some of their prize-winning catches.

“This event offers servicemembers the opportunity to get involved with the community, spend time with their colleagues and do something they genuinely enjoy," a representative from ECAR said. "It’s a great way for us to say thank you for everything they’ve done for our community and our country.”

All combat-wounded soldiers, airmen, sailors, Marines and Gold Star children interested in participating, or any local businesses that would like the opportunity to contribute to this amazing event and support combat-wounded military members, are encouraged to contact Farah Raschid at 850-243-6145 or farah@ecaor.com for more information.

The Emerald Coast Association of Realtors is one of 1,500 local chapters of the National Association of REALTORS. ECAR covers Okaloosa and Walton counties and has more than 3,800 Realtor members from across the Florida Panhandle.
