What’s your favorite thing to do at school?

Listen to and watch teachers and students interacting and catching that “Ah ha moment” of discovery.

Why did you become an educator?

I started as a substitute teacher in a classroom for students with autism. I was hooked from that moment, and knew I was supposed to be involved in education with a focus on students with special needs.

Who is your favorite author?

Malcom Gladwell.

If you were not an educator, what would you be?

Well-rested? Bored? I don’t want to consider not being an educator. Guiding another person to a deeper realization of a concept or helping them acquire a new skill is an amazing honor, privilege and responsibility. There are few things more important we can do for each other and for our communities than share and inspire a love of learning.
