Andrew Garrett, a 31-year-old Fort Walton Beach Resident, was arrested Wednesday after fleeing from an OCSO deputy. He was charged with hit and run, racing on a roadway, reckless driving with property damage, DUI, fleeing and eluding and driving with a suspended license habitual offender.
DESTIN — A man was arrested Wednesday night after he was clocked at 111 mph in his vehicle.
According to a press release from the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, Fort Walton Beach's Andrew Garrett, who is 31, was arrested after he fled from a deputy.
The deputy spotted two cars about 11 p.m. that appeared to be racing east on U.S. Highway 98 on Okaloosa Island.
As the deputy approached, Garre fled into Destin in a BMW, the release said.
Garrett drove down Benning Drive and Mountain Drive, where he hit a fire hydrant and was forced to stop.
The deputy smelled a "strong odor of alcohol" on Garrett's breath, according to the Sheriff's Office.
