Colton Bryan, 28, has been charged with armed robbery and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm
FREEPORT – The suspect in Saturday’s fatal shooting in Freeport was arrested on Wednesday morning by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office on outstanding warrants in Walton County.
Colton Bryan, 28, was charged with armed robbery and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, but has yet to be charged for murder.
“There are no new charges at this point, aside from what we already have,” Walton County Sheriff Mike Atkinson said. “At this point we won’t (add charges) until we wrap up the rest of our investigation, which is still ongoing.”
According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies responded to a 911 call in the 300 block of Four Mile Road on Saturday evening, where they found one person clinging to life and another severely injured from a gunshot wound. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where one died shortly upon arrival and the other remains in critical condition.
Bryan was last seen driving from the scene in a red and white Chevy Silverado, which was later located near Beatrice Point.
