SHALIMAR — The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office reported to an attempted burglary call Monday night on 2nd Street.

According to the OCSO, the victim says he heard a knock on the front door and the doorbell ring around 8:40 p.m.

The victim looked through the peep hole and adjacent frosted glass window before opening the door slightly. He says a heavyset man about 5’8” tall with an afro and goatee began pushing on the door to force entry. The victim then pushed back, closed the door, and locked it before calling the authorities.

Deputies canvassed the area but did not locate the individual.

Law enforcement advises that if you notice any suspicious activity in your neighborhood, you contact them immediately.
