A portion of County Road 30A near Alligator Lake has been closed until late February.

SANTA ROSA BEACH — A stretch of County Road 30A has been temporarily closed to accommodate for the construction of a bridge at Alligator Lake.

The project is the result of a larger-scale plan — which started in 2013 — to remove faulty culverts at five coastal dune lakes.

According to a Walton County press release, construction began Nov. 12 and is expected to end late February.

The portion of 30A that runs from County Road 283 to County road 83 has been closed for the duration of the project.

During construction, traffic must use the detour to U.S. Highway 98 via County Road 281 and 83, the release said.

The multi-use trail will also be closed during the project.
