PANAMA CITY — The Bay County Courthouse was evacuated Tuesday morning because of a bomb threat and remained closed Tuesday afternoon.

It was expected to reopen Wednesday.

It was one of at least three courthouses that received bomb threats Tuesday. Escambia County and Okaloosa County also received threats.

The investigation is being handled by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad assisted Panama City Police Department with evacuating and searching the Bay County Courthouse.

Both Okaloosa County courthouses were searched. The courthouses remained open during the interior and exterior searches. No suspicious objects were found, said Michele Nicholson, public information officer for the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

The threats was cleared by local law enforcement and there isn’t any immediate danger.

The investigation is still ongoing.
