A man was killed in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday.

CRESTVIEW — A Laurel Hill man is dead following a three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, Michael Gambert, 38, was traveling north on Ferdon Boulevard near Prospect Road in a pickup truck about 12:45 p.m. as 64-year-old Randall Teal of Crestview was driving an Audi in the opposite direction..

"For an unknown reason," Gambert drifted into the other lane and hit Teal, the release said.

Gambert’s truck then hit a curb, sign and a tree. Teal’s car hit a power pole’s guide wire.

Debris from the sign that Gambert hit struck the front door of an unoccupied vehicle parked in a driveway, the FHP reported.

Gambert was pronounced dead on scene. Teal was not injured.

"That tree was 3 feet into where that truck’s motor would be," said Indiana resident Josh Smith, who called the Northwest Florida Daily News as he sat in traffic near the accident scene.
