DESTIN — A Destin resident and convicted felon is being held on multiple charges after a traffic stop Thursday on Harbor Boulevard.

The early morning stop resulted in the discovery of a loaded gun, drugs and thousands of dollars in cash in Mitry’s car.


As the primary deputy walked back to his patrol car, a supervisor on scene saw Miltry try to grab an item from under the seat.


He lit up the inside of the car with his flashlight and says Mitry stopped reaching and began to straighten his pants leg.


Mitry refused to answer when asked what he was reaching for. Deputies found a loaded handgun in that spot on the floorboard.


A search of the car also turned up a large amount of MDMA, a backpack with an estimated 795 grams of marijuana, and more than $7,200 in cash.


Mitry is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, trafficking in MDMA, possession of a firearm while in commission of a felony, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
