At about 3 a.m. Monday, the Walton County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop, where drugs, money, a gun and paraphernalia were found.
SANTA ROSA BEACH — Walton County Sheriff's Office's newest K9, Colt, spearheaded a drug bust early Monday morning.
According to a WCSO press release, the incident occurred after a traffic stop about 3 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and County Highway 393.
The release said the driver has been identified as Brandon Shaw, 40, of Alabama. He was accompanied by passenger, Cassie Lovejoy Ponthieux, 38, of Freeport.
The drug bust prevented “more than 30 grams of methamphetamine and more than 10 grams of cocaine from hitting the streets of Walton County,” the Sheriff's Office said.
Two grams of heroin, 5 grams of marijuana, nearly 300 grams of an unknown substance and multiple pills, including Hydrocodone and Oxycodone, were also confiscated.
WCSO also found more than $5,000, a pistol, .25 caliber ammunition, plastic baggies, glass pipes and other drug paraphernalia.
The release said that Shaw and Ponthieux were charged with trafficking methamphetamine, six counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
