Criminal charges are pending against the man, whose name hasn't been released, according to police.

ST. CLOUD, Fla. (AP) — A disgruntled guest who'd been asked to leave a housewarming party at an off-duty police officer's home was shot early Sunday when he returned with a gun and shot at the house. police said.


Orlando police Officer Julian Ortiz was hosting the party at his home in St. Cloud when the man who had been invited by another guest was asked to leave the party, according to a news release. The man left, but came back and tried to enter the home by kicking in the front door.


Ortiz went outside and was met by the man, who was brandishing a gun, the news release said. When he fired the gun, Ortiz returned fire and struck the man multiple times.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. No one else at the home was struck by gunfire.


Criminal charges are pending against the man, whose name hasn't been released, according to police. The actions of Ortiz remain under review. The St. Cloud Police Department and the state attorney's office will review the shooting.


The officer is on administrative leave pending an investigation.
