CRESTVIEW – Hilton and American Express recently announced that the companies will provide complimentary rooms to doctors, nurses, EMTs, paramedics and other frontline medical staff members through the end of May.

Hampton Inn by Hilton Crestview opted in.

Director of Sales Liz Burdick said the healthcare workers can have unlimited stays through May, and the date might be extended if needed. They can contact their agency to book the stay.

“We’re about a mile from the hospital, so we’re a perfect location,” Burdick said. “If they are wanting to isolate from their families – a lot of doctors, nurses, EMTs, they don’t want to expose their families to what they’re exposed to everyday, so it’s for that. Maybe visiting doctors. Maybe you just need to chill for awhile before your next shift. Maybe you don’t live near here. Any of them can come. We’re ready for them.”

The hotel has taken extra sanitary precautions and limited direct exposure to guests to protect the health of their staff members.

“We’ve been doing extra cleaning,” Burdick said. “We have installed protective plexiglass in front of our front desk. We keep the hand sanitizer out for everyone. We’re well supplied on toilet paper. Housekeeping goes into the room when the guests aren’t in the room and have gloves and masks.”

Guests will also receive a complimentary grab-and-go breakfast in the morning with pre-packaged muffins and bottled water.

The Hampton Inn by Hilton Crestview felt it was important to give back to the community in this time of need, Burdick said.

“The staff was really excited to be able to help the community,” Burdick said. “Everybody that works here is from here, so it made them feel good, too, to opt for the program. We’re happy to be part of it.”
