Francis William Metz of Destin, FL, formerly of Naperville, IL passed away peacefully Wednesday September 15, 2021 surrounded by family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; son, Ryan of Warrenville, IL; daughter Sharon Day (John) and granddaughter Cora Nakos of Elgin, IL; sister-in-law Cindy Venziano of Destin, FL; brother Russell Metz of Seattle, WA; sisters Kathleen (the late Joseph) Lococo and Alice Metz of Milwaukee, WI; Mary (Stephen) Meiley of Highland Mills, NY; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Harriet (nee Lescewicz) Metz; sister Marilyn (the late Frank) Moraira; brothers Paul and Martin Metz.

Not long after graduating from Naperville Community High School in 1969, Fran enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, whom he proudly served for three years until his honorable discharge in 1973. Semper Fi. The following year he joined the Dupage County Sheriffs Department, dedicating his entire career as a Sheriff's Deputy and Detective before retiring in 2001.

Fran loved to fish and was a lifelong Chicago White Sox, Bears fan and history buff. Details for a Memorial Service soon to follow.
