Born on October 24, 1954, at the Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, Gregory T. Grant, Sr., passed away on April 16, 2023 with his wife, Karen (KC) present by his side. His parents, Elwood and Bernice Grant, both preceded him in death.

After high school, Greg joined the Air Force where he served as an aerospace ground equipment (AGE) mechanic. He served on countless missions throughout the United States, as well as overseas. After twenty years he retired from active duty and began working for a contractor on Eglin as an AGE mechanic, a job he truly enjoyed.

Greg served as an active member and deacon at First Baptist Church. He also enjoyed coaching his sons when they played city-league basketball and baseball. In his “other spare” time, he loved playing ping pong and watching his favorite Miami teams, the Dolphins and the Hurricanes, on TV or attending the games in his younger years. Most of all, he enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren playing sports, performing in plays, and their other various activities.

Greg is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Karen Grant; oldest son Thomas Grant and wife Melissa and grandchildren, Tripp, Kelliana, Kendeleigh; and youngest son Steven Grant and wife Amy and grandchildren, Courtney and Whitney.

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. A celebration of Greg’s life will be held at 10:00a.m., Thursday, May 25, 2023, at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Liveoak Park Cemetery with military honors.

Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview. Guest book and condolences are available online at www.whitehurstpowellfuneralhome.com
