Bobby Wayne Dean grew up in North Carolina, graduating from Concord High School and Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. After college he began a 32 year career with Sears in management, retiring in 1993 in Atlanta, Georgia. He opened and operated Southern Cottage Company, a residential construction company in South Walton County, FL until 2013.

In 1994 he and his wife Pat fulfilled their dream of moving to Grayton Beach FL. They joined Christ the King Episcopal Church, lovingly referred to as "Saint Double-wide." He continued working as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity in Okaloosa County and later started a Habitat for Humanity affiliate for Walton County. He served on the HFH Walton County board for many years. He was a very active member of Christ the King Episcopal Church, serving as the construction chairman of the new church building and other committees. Bob was ordained as a Vocational Deacon the Episcopal Church in 2011, serving several parishes including Christ the King.

After a lengthy illness, Bob passed away in Montgomery, AL on May 11, 2023 at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents Hursel Grant Dean and Mary Estelle Nordan McMillen, and his beloved brother Fred Lee Dean. He is survived by his wife Patricia, three daughters and their husbands, Katherine and Randy Morgan of Greenville, SC, Laura and Glen Johnson of Canton, GA, and Leslie and Michael Davis of Montgomery, AL.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Bob may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 2440 US 98 W, Santa Rosa Beach FL, 32459 or to Christ the King Episcopal Church, 480 North County Hwy 393, Santa Rosa Beach FL, 32549.

Memorial service for Bob will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Christ the King Episcopal Church in Santa Rosa Beach, FL at 11:00 a.m.
