It seems as though Mr. Stearns agrees with the Republican senators who put Donald Trump above the law. (Commanders can replace a subordinate, News Herald, Feb. 29, 2020)

Does he really think it was wrong for Lt. Col. Vindman to report an illegal act by a superior? Does he not remember that 16 other people swore under oath that Donald Trump had abused his powers? Though swearing under oath does not seem to mean much as evidenced by all but one of the Republican Senators who claimed they would be impartial in judgment when they had already announced beforehand how they were going to vote.

Anyone accused of a crime would like to have the farcical trial that Congress held. No evidence was presented, no witnesses were called, Donald Trump paid someone to give a speech saying what a good guy he is and how honest he is in spite of his having told over 13,000 lies in the last three years and the rigged jury has already been described.

If Mr. Stearns had to choose what kind of person he would like to have serving the country would he choose someone with decent principles like Lt. Col. Vindman who said, "Right matters," or a narcissistic, vengeful, self-proclaimed stable genius (who graduated with a C-minus grade), wife-cheating, chronic liar like Donald Trump?
