After trailing late, the Destin Marlins came back to finish in a 9-9 tie with the Walton Warriors in middle school softball action in DeFuniak Springs Wednesday evening.
Destin got on the board first with two runs in the second inning on a couple of hits, one from Ava Smith and the other from Ashlyn Priest.
However, in the bottom of the third Walton gained the advantage with three runs on a two hits.
In the fourth, Walton added four more runs on three hits for a 7-2 lead.
In the top of the sixth, Destin got one run back with Samantha Sherer walking and scoring.
In the bottom of the sixth, Walton put two on the board.
Not done yet, Destin put six runs on the board in the top of the seventh to tie the game.
In the bottom half, Destin sat the Warriors down quickly to end with the game deadlocked.
For the game, Smith went two for three with an RBI and Priest connected for a single.
Up next for Destin is a 4:30 p.m. game after the spring break on March 26 at Ruckel Middle School in Niceville.
