Pete VanHesteren connected for four hits to lead Fireballers in a 23-8 win over Island Wings in the Coed Division II Softball League at Morgan Sports Center in Destin.

VanHesteren belted two doubles and two singles for two RBIs.

Fireballers jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the first two innings. In the top of the third, Fireballers put up nine run on the board for a 17-4 advantage. Fireballers managed to put the game away in five innings.

Jesse Santos doubled and hit two singles for six RBIs for Fireballers and Nicolette Newman hit two doubles and a single for two RBIs.

Chris Rubino tripled and singled for Island Wings. Chris Edmonsond connected for two doubles for an RBI and Karen Scott hit a single.


Island Wings 24, The Track 20

The first three innings of play was close with the game deadlocked at 8-8.

In the fourth, Island Wings scored one while The Track brought in the 10-run limit.

In the last two innings, Island Wings rallied with seven runs in the fifth and eight in the sixth.

Chris Edmonsond smacked a home run, two doubles and a single for two RBIs for Island Wings. Chris Rubino ripped a home run, triple and a double for three RBIs, and Kat Mortenson doubled and hit two singles for an RBI.

Gregg Griffith hit two homers and two singles for eight RBIs for The Track. Aaron Bradley connected for two doubles and two singles, while Rita Cummins hit two singles for an RBI.
