The Destin Marlins dominated on the volleyball court Wednesday afternoon at Destin Middle School with a 2-0 victory over the visiting St. Mary’s Archangels of Fort Walton Beach.
Destin won the first game 25-20 and then put the second away, 25-16.
“We initially struggled at the service line in the first game, but we were able to serve better the second game,” said Destin Coach Katie Davies.
“With it being the first home game, I think the girls were still a little nervous,” she said.
However, by the second game the Lady Marlins started to click.
“We started to command the court again,” Davies said.
The girls communicated on the court better which led to more points.
“Now that we have our first two games completed, we’re starting to see our team’s identity take form,” Davies said.
Up next for the 2-0 Marlins is a 6 p.m. game Sept. 4 at Freeport Middle School.
