Michael Haynes knocked in eight runs to lead TayGray/2 Brothers in a 17-16 win over Bradley’s Textile in the first round of tournament play in the Coed Division I Softball League at Morgan Sports Center.
Haynes cracked out three home runs for the eight RBIs.
TayGray stepped out to a 5-1 lead in the first two innings and then upped it to 7-2 by the end of three.
In the top of the fourth, Bradley’s evened the scored with five runs. TayGray edged back in front with one run in the bottom half.
In the fifth, Bradley’s stepped up and put eight runs on the board. TayGray answered with five in the bottom half and then put four more on the board in the sixth for a 17-15 game. In the top of the seventh, Bradley’s could only muster one run.
Neil Washington belted a home run, double and two singles for two RBIs for TayGray, while Angela Coteat hit two singles.
Cody Maddox led Bradley’s with a homer, two doubles and a single for two RBIs. William Eads hit two doubles and a single for three RBIs, and Sam Baker hit two singles. Ryan Grandstaff also hit a home run.
Earlier in the evening, Bradley’s Textile blasted Boathouse Oyster Bar 20-6.
In the first inning, both teams put up four runs. In the second, Bradley’s started to pull away with five runs.
In the third, Boathouse scored two runs and Bradley’s answered with two as well.
Bradley’s put the game away in the next two innings with six runs in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Donnie Montrey slapped out a home run and two singles for two RBIs for Bradley’s. Corey Griffith hit two doubles for four RBIs, and Kristen Myers doubled and hit two singles. Cody Maddox also hit a home run.
Stu Vanhousen led Boathouse with a homer and a double for three RBIs. Jordan Brewer doubled and singled and Amber Jeter singled.
