Both Hancock Bank and Pool Sharks posted victories in the first round of the double elimination Coed Division II Softball Tournament at Morgan Sports Center in Destin.

In the first game, Hancock came from behind to beat Emerald Coast Chiropractic 5-4.

Chiropractic jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the first inning.

The next two innings were scoreless. Both teams were hitting the ball, just not in the gap.

In the top of the fourth, Chiropractic scored two more runs for a 4-1 advantage.

In the bottom of the fifth, Hancock put up one run and then another in the sixth.

In the seventh, Hancock tied the game forcing it into extra innings.

Hancock pulled it out in the bottom of the eight for the win.

Big hitters for Hancock were Dave Bazylak with a home run and a single for an RBI, Jennifer Bazylak with two singles for an RBI, and Todd Schrag with a double and a single.

Don Edwards led Chiropractic with two doubles for two RBIs. Kat Mortenson hit two singles and Beth Henry connected for two singles for an RBI.

In the second game, Pool Sharks edged out Ace in the Hole 15-13.

Sharks took a 6-0 lead in the first and led 11-5 by the end of three.

Ace closed the gap with five runs in the top of the fourth. Sharks answered with one in the bottom half.

In the bottom of the sixth, Sharks put up three more runs for a 15-10 lead.

In the top of the seventh, Ace came up short with only three runs.

Chris O’Connor led Sharks with three singles for three RBIs. Jen Robbins hit three singles for two RBIs, and Adam Mooney tripled and hit two singles for five RBIs.

Andy Collins was the big stick for Ace with a home run, two doubles and a single for five RBIs. Casey Leirer doubled and hit two singles for two RBIs, and Dee Rodriguez hit two singles for two RBIs.
