Destin Commons showcased the latest in electric vehicles on Friday during National Drive Electric Week.

People learned everything about driving an electric car. Electric cars, motorcycles, bikes and vendor exhibits were on display. Attendees and shoppers enjoyed vehicle presentations, test drives and informational presentations.

“We had owners out here answering question on how it is like to have an electric vehicle,” said’s John Collins, who helped organize the event.

Joey Procido purchased his 2014 BMW i3 from and wanted to come out show his support.

“I always get stopped randomly at parking lots and get asked how far it can drive on a full charge, which is about 80 miles,” he said.

Procido said he only likes to drive his electric car locally.

“They are fun to drive and they are very economical,” he said. “Just sitting in them, it feels like I’m in a spaceship"
