Hope and Lewis Abbott are the couple who started the International Real Estate World Summit last year in Panama City. They are bringing it to Destin this year.

The world of real estate is descending on Destin. This year's second International Real Estate World Summit runs from Oct. 25 until Oct. 27 at the Sandestin Hilton. Guests will be treated to three days of international education, benefiting from representatives from 30-plus countries. There will be 12 guest speakers from around the world who are experts in their fields. Hope Abbott and Lewis Abbott are the co-chairmen of the summit and they said their primary goal is bringing global awareness to the Emerald Coast. "We truly love and believe in this community and we want others to as well," said Lewis. International real estate is one of the fasting growing markets, increasing by about 25 percent every year. With about $82 billion in sales last year, the Abbotts said they expect international real estate sales to almost hit $100 billion by the end of 2012. One main focus of the summit is how to buy and sell property outside of the country and the monetary logistics that go along with it. The summit is not just about real estate, though. The international publicity for our area will greatly benefit local businesses, and in turn benefit the foreign markets as well, said Lewis. The Abbotts said there will be a registration table set up the day of the event and they are welcoming Realtors and local businesses with international aspirations to sign up. The summit is not an easy undertaking. It takes the couple all year to plan, so once they are done with this year's summit they will start preparing for next year's festivities.
