Maryjo Morris, of Prudential PenFed, ‘works for the client — not for the commission’
Maryjo Morris grew up spending her vacations on the Emerald Coast, at her Grandmother’s seaside hotel. It’s no surprise that she has chosen this beautiful area as her home base for the last 13 years.
After growing up inland in St. Louis. Morris has found her paradise, combining her love of the area with her love of real estate.
Serving on the board of directors for not only Eden Gardens State Park, but also the Friends of Florida State Parks, Morris makes time in her life for the outdoors and volunteerism. She spends what little free time she has gardening at Eden, or going to board meetings around the state, which allows her to tour various parks.
Traveling has always been one of her passions, and she has seen the globe. No matter how great the vacation, however, she is always happy to return home, and get back to her real estate.
A self-described “real estate junkie,” Morris says she loves helping her clients find the perfect home. Her background and degree are construction management, so her current career wasn’t a huge leap, but she notes that it is definitely different.
“I love all real estate,” she said, “In one month I sold a residential lot for less than four thousand dollars and a home for $1.8 million. I love a challenge, and there is never a shortage in the real estate industry.”
Solution driven, Morris takes great care with her clients, who sometimes need to remind even her to take a break from showing them houses.
“Helping people find that next step in their life is an unparalleled feeling,” Morris said.
She is tired at the end of most days, but she is extremely happy. There hasn’t even been time for a vacation this year, which is a true testament to the way things are trending in the real estate industry.
The market is surely seeing stabilization, and furthermore it’s getting more difficult to find the deal that everyone is still seeking. Inventory is going down, as is supported by the fact that Morris’s listings continue to be scooped up faster than she can replenish them. For Morris, this is just another challenge, and one she is willing to meet head-on — with a smile.
“I will walk my clients through homes until they find their perfect home, at the right price,” she said. “Real estate has changed over the years. The process takes longer, and my clients become my friends.”
Her clients value her expertise, and Morris is knee deep in the busiest summer of her career.
Morris is also happy to call Prudential PenFed her home, and her Broker, Royce Mitchell.
“He’s a great leader, and cheerleader,” she said.
PenFed’s resources really help her do her job that much better.
Mitchell is happy to have Morris on the team too, saying, "Maryjo is a terrific agent and has the ability to make her clients her friends. Once they work with Maryjo, they are hers for life," Mitchell says. "She has the trait that is invaluable to her clients... the ability to listen to what a client wants and needs. Maryjo works for the client — not for the commission. That is what sets her apart."
