Local Realtor Jason Parkhurst featured on Sports Illustrated covers

Special to The Log

Realtor Jason Parkhurst with World Impact Real Estate started seriously shooting images while attending Choctawhatchee High School while working on the newspaper and yearbook staffs. He continued shooting after he began college at the University of Florida. While he was there he was the photo editor of the largest independent daily student-run newspaper in the country and began doing assisting work for a few photographers from Sports Illustrated.

Upon graduation from UF Parkhurst interned at a newspaper in Flint, Mich., and then decided to continue working with photographers from Sports Illustrated. He assisted and shot for that magazine as well as a few others until after the 2004 Olympics in Greece. He then went out as a full time freelance photographer, and he has covered many professional and collegiate sporting events in the 10 years since, including nine Super Bowls, three World Series, two Olympic games, and numerous bowl games and other championships around the world. His images have appeared in many national publications, including Sports Illustrated, ESPN the Magazine, The Sporting News, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times to name a few.

This past October, Parkhurst was shooting the Alabama at Mississippi game for Sports Illustrated and was honored to have one of his images from that game grace the cover of the magazine alongside a fellow photographer’s image from another game in Mississippi that day, which some people have described as the greatest day in the history of college football for the state of Mississippi. Parkhurst was hired to shoot a number of other games for the magazine this fall. After Alabama was selected to be in the inaugural College Football Playoff, another one of his images was selected for the cover and the magazine was published on Dec. 29, 2014.  Although Jason has had many images published in Sports Illustrated, these were the first two times he made the cover.

World Impact is pleased that Jason is a part of the team and not only through his real estate background, he is also impacting the world with his impressive photography skills.
