The Emerald Coast Association of Realtors was filled with excitement Jan. 28 as selectees of the 2015 Leadership Development Program began their leadership journey.

During a lunch at the Association, the 15 program candidates were introduced to the Association’s leadership and staff.

Numerous members of the Association spoke to the group about their own past Leadership Development Program experiences and how it affected their careers and their roles within the association and the community. The program is designed to give participants an understanding of how Realtor associations work on local, state and national levels helping them prepare for leadership roles.

The theme of the day was repeated reminders to not let the opportunities of this program pass you by and to take advantage of every resource. Expressions such as “eye-opening experience” and phrases such as “this program will ignite your passion for both real estate and the association” were constant throughout the lunch.

“I am very excited to be working with the future of ECAR,” said Susan Rood, ECAR LDP chair. “I look forward to learning more about each of them and what their vision is for ECAR and watching them develop into the leaders of tomorrow.”

Selectees applied to the program for many reasons such as overcoming their dislike of public speaking in public, mastering their transition from military to civilian leadership, networking with other Realtors and preparing to take a more active role within the association.

As part of the program, the LDP candidates will participate in numerous activities throughout the year including attending monthly classes and traveling to Great American Realtor Days in Tallahassee and the Florida Realtors’ Convention in Orlando.
