Letting the good times roll: Cigar social club coming to Miramar Beach

Make way for a new and very interesting business combination coming to Miramar Beach in August.

David Sharruf, founder and co-owner of Cigar Factory New Orleans, is the mastermind behind the construction taking place along Highway 98 near Gold's Gym.

Sharruf told The Sun he has been in the cigar business since 1988, and has been operating the store in New Orleans since 1999. And since the first thing he does once he arrives in any new town is to find a well made cigar and get a massage, he decided to combine these two loves in hopes to create a new business venture.

Downstairs will be Miramar Massage Hair and Spa, while the upstairs will be the Cigar Factory Social Club, said David, where patrons will be able to enjoy a smoke from Cigar Factory New Orleans’ handmade cigars while sipping wine or drinking a beer at the bar.

“We’re going to be servicing the people; that’s the whole idea,” said David. “It’s convenience; you come in, get a haircut, a manicure, get a massage… then go upstairs and get a bottle of wine.”

This combination is unique to the area, he said, noting he was unable to find just exactly what he was looking for when he came to town.

The hand-rolled cigars are made with Connecticut Shade, Cameroon African and Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrappers.

“This is set up for the locals. We’re going to be open late, seven days a week,” he said, noting the convenient later hours.

Hours of operation are, although tentative, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Saturday. Haircuts will start at $20 and massages will run at $80 for an hour.

Once finished, downstairs will have a sleek, industrious feel while the upstairs will embody the modern lounge atmosphere, he said. A humidor will store the privately sold cigars which will be available for purchase.

“We want to encourage women to come here because it is a spa and we have suites to get a massage in,” Sharruf said. “Hopefully we’re going to create something here that’s going to be different with quality, service and value for their money.”
