Sacred Heart Hospital employees (from left) Tracy Perk, Jessica Markowski, Tina Withrow, and Jeff Ryan, received over 200 donated toys from the Blue Marlin Realty Group team Holden Hughes, Johnathan Hughes, Rick Moore, Jerry Sullivan, Leslie Sullivan and Roger Conner.

Blue Marlin Realty Group partnered with Porsche of Destin, Gregg ORR Auto and members of the local community to collect and donate toys to children who visited the Emergency Room at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast this holiday season.

The thought of visiting the emergency room with your child is always a daunting experience, especially during the holiday season. For the fifth year in a row, Blue Marlin Realty Group, cated in the heart of Destin, turned their front office into a toy donation drop off spot. Over two months, more than 200 toys were donated such as books, bikes, electronics, and stuffed animals.

On Monday, Dec. 21, members from Blue Marlin Realty Group arrived at the Sacred Heart Hospital Emergency Room with carloads full of toys. The nurses and staff were overwhelmed with joy and graciously accepted the gifts while placing them under the Christmas tree in the waiting room.

“Many people are unaware of the number of struggling families in our area," said Sacred Heart Hospital’s Jeff Ryan. "As a faith-based hospital system, it is our mission to serve all persons with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable. We have had the pleasure of partnering with many community groups that share our concern such as Blue Marlin Realty. It is our privilege to be help distribute these gifts to underprivileged children. We hope this will make their Christmas brighter and build in these families and the community a desire to help one another.”

Although no child or parent wishes to spend their holidays in the hospital, unfortunately there are always unplanned visits. Whether the toys were given to a child who was injured, a sibling or child of a patient, utilized as in-room activities, or in the waiting room, Blue Marlin Realty Group hopes their efforts helped keep the holiday spirit alive here in the local community.

“We are so proud and honored of the support of the Blue Marlin Realty Group team, the Destin Porsche Club and the Destin community," said Blue Marlin Realty Group owners and brokers Johnathan Hughes and Jerry Sullivan. "We hope the donated toys brightened the stay for children during their holiday visits,” “We love watching the momentum of this toy drive grow each year and plan to make this a holiday tradition for years to come. We couldn’t do it without this amazing community and we are forever grateful."
