The Emerald Coast Association of Realtors (ECAR) presented four area elementary schools with donations  this month to the school’s art programs.

The Community and Military Outreach Committee (CMOC) is ECAR’s arm for planning and implementing community service and military support projects. CMOC members spent the month of October delivering $900 checks to elated art teachers at Northwood Elementary, Edwins Elementary, Mossy Head and Walton Middle School.

"I would really like to give the kids some pottery wheels, that’s my specialty," said Northwood Elementary School art teacher Beth Plantz.

“I am in disbelief. I don’t know what to say,” added Edwins Elementary School art teacher Cherish Webb in response to the surprise contribution. “We are a Title 1 school and we work hard to try and provide our kids with the best fine and performing arts program that we can.”

Additional ideas by the art teachers were to purchase 3D art material, photography tools, drawing paper and pencils.

ECAR’s mission includes making a difference in the communities it serves, and supporting Title 1 schools with additional resources was a perfect fit to the CMOC members.
