MKAF hosted Destin’s first ever pop-up dining event

Special to The Log
Patrons Michelle Eason and Dustin Terry enjoyed an evening with parrots of Margaritaville.

The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation introduced the area’s first-ever pop-up dining event, “An Evening in Margaritaville,” as an end of summer fundraiser for the non-profit organization. This sold-out event was held at On the Rocks Bar and The HarborView Room at HarborWalk Village in Destin.

Guests enjoyed live music by Coconut Radio, an award-winning culinary experience prepared by Legendary Executive Chef Jimmy McManus, a live painting demonstration by emerging artist, Andy Saczynski, a charity raffle, and a spectacular fireworks finale to end the evening.

The “pop up” dining concept adds an impromptu and intriguing twist to traditional wine dinners using a themed approach and the element of surprise for the foodie who hungers for space at the table.

MKAF Special Event Chairperson Janna Morrison said, “We applaud the patron support and generous sponsorships of Legendary, Inc., Sysco, Southern Wine & Spirit and Life’s A Beach publication.”

This fundraiser resulted in more than $10,000 in proceeds to benefit cultural arts and student educational outreach programs serving Okaloosa and Walton counties in Northwest Florida. Watch for the next “pop-up” dining event to occur in 2013 or email info@MattieKellyArtsFoundation.org to get on the mailing list for future cultural events.
