Window Gallery Display
FORT WALTON BEACH – To showcase the work of local artists, the Arts and Design Society presents exhibits in their studio windows facing First Street. In December, the work of stained-glass artist Tappy Henson will be on display. Call 244-1271.
Fall concert
NICEVILLE – The Junior Orchestra of Northwest Florida State College will present its Fall Concert at 11 a.m. Dec. 8 in Tyler Recital Hall in the Music Wing of NWFSC. Call 651-4308.
Youth Orchestra concert
NICEVILLE – The Northwest Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra presents its annual Fall Concert at 3 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Mattie Kelley Arts Center of NWFSC. The performance will include music by Beethoven, Dvorak, Grieg and Offenbach along with some favorite holiday selections. The NFSYO’s musical ensemble “High Voltage” will also perform two selections. The concert is free and open to the public; however donations to support the youth program are welcomed. Call 729-5382.
Cirque Chinois
NICEVILLE – Direct from Beijing, the National Circus of the People’s Republic of China will perform their new international sensation "Cirque Chinois" at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State. Tickets are $35 each or $30 each for groups of 10 or more tickets purchased together. Purchase tickets at 729-6000 or 1-888-838-ARTS (2787) Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or purchase online at www.mattiekellyartscenter.org. Tickets will also be available the night of the show, space permitting, starting at 6 p.m.
Independent film series
DESTIN – The Friends Guild of the Destin Library presents an independent and foreign film at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month. The program is free and open to the public. Films are unrated and directed toward mature audiences. Seating will be limited to 60 on a first come, first served basis.
Baytowne on Ice
SANDESTIN – The ice skating rink at The Village of Baytowne Wharf will be open through Jan. 31 at the Apex Broadcasting Skating Pavilion. For $10 guests can skate for an hour and a half. Skate rental is $2. The first hour of each day is reserved for "kids skate" for youth 12 and under. Season passes are available for $140. During November bring two non-perishable cans of food for Harvest House of Destin and receive a free skate rental. Call 816-682-1003 for times and special skating packages.

FORT WALTON BEACH – The Arts and Design Society is inviting artists across the Southeast to submit works for the 21st Southeast Regional Juried Fine Arts Exhibition, hosted by Northwest Florida State College. JPEG images are due by midnight Feb. 4 for the Exhibition, which runs from April 21 through May 31. Call 244-1271.

FORT WALTON BEACH – The Arts and Design Society is inviting all artists to submit works for the 54th Annual Beaux Arts Exhibition, hosted by Westwood Retirement Community. Registration is in the Westwood Retirement Community Atrium from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 7. Entry fee is $25, members; $35 non-members, with a limit of two entries. Call 582-1329.
