ADDY Awards Gala

Snowbird Appreciation Sock Hop

OKALOOSA ISLAND – Twist, cha-cha, mambo and do the mashed potato at the Third Annual Snowbird Appreciation Sock Hop from 7-10 p.m. Feb. 24 for snowbirds and locals. This blast from the past will include live music from Ron Adams as Elvis and the Emerald Gold Band, so hunt up a poodle skirt or some blue suede shoes and enjoy live music, costume and dance contests, door prizes and a cash bar. Dining Out For The Arts

MIRAMAR BEACH – Paul Schreiner of Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation will host a charity wine dinner at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 27 with proceeds to benefit the Foundation’s cultural and education mission in Okaloosa and Walton Counties. Reserve your place at the table for $65 per Foundation member and $75 for non-members. Gratuity is not included. Seating is limited to 30 people on a first-come, first-serve basis. Americana Under the Stars

SANTA ROSA BEACH – Topsail Hill Preserve State Park presents Emmett Carlisle at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 during a new concert series, Americana Under the Stars. Performers follow an open mic showcase of local musicians from 5-6:30 p.m. Must be present to sign up. Admission is free and there is a suggested $5 donation to the Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. Bring your own food or beverages, if desired.

Destin Desserts

DESTIN – Destin Desserts showcases the talents of local chefs and the power of the Girl Scout cookie at 7 p.m. March 1 at the Emerald Grande at HarborWalk Village Ballroom. Doors open at 6 p.m. Eight local chefs will create desserts using Girl Scout cookies and compete for the title of Destin Desserts Champion. All attending the event will vote for their favorite dessert. Tickets are $50 and include social hour, heavy hors d'oeuvres, dessert tasting and voting, awards, silent auction and music by Jones and Company. Visit www.gscfp.org/index.html.
