Burning Up The Beaches

OKALOOSA ISLAND - Burning Up The Beaches, the car cruising and car show event that debuted on the Emerald Coast in 2011, returns May 4-5 at the Boardwalk. The car show takes place May 4 with judging, bounce houses, unique valve cover races, and the High Roller BMX Stunt Show. Crime Stoppers Crawfish Boil

MIRAMAR BEACH - Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers will host a Louisiana Crawfish Boil from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4 at Publix at Grand Boulevard. Kids' meals will be available. Dine in or carry out. One box is $12, four boxes are $40.

Cinco de Mayo

SANDESTIN - Cantina Laredo Modern Mexican Food at Grand Boulevard will host its fifth annual Cinco de Mayo celebration from 5-11 p.m. May 4. Heritage will perform and Fusion Art Glass will exhibit the art of glass blowing. Call 654-5649.

Gumbo Cook-Off

OKALOOSA ISLAND - The inaugural Island Life Social Club Gumbo Cook-Off will be held from 2-6 p.m. May 4 at Fudpucker's. Admission is $10, and includes gumbo tasting, food and drink specials, contest vote, live music and silent auction. The gumbo team entry fee is $25. Proceeds benefit Relay for Life. Visit

Cinco de Mayo Fest

DESTIN – A vibrant celebration of Latin music, food, dance, and more begins the afternoon of May 4 for a “Lick ‘Em, Shoot ‘Em, Bite ‘Em, Eat ‘Em” contest sponsored by Crab Island Cantina, along with “the most interesting man in the world” look-alike contest. Join the Destin Nights for a Latin pub crawl — wristbands are $10 with proceeds going to the Emerald Coast Autism Society.

The fun continues at noon May 5 with the second annual Running of the Bulls with Roller Derby teams from across the area. The Macho-Nacho eating contest will take place later that afternoon.

Night of Worship

FORT WALTON BEACH – Shoreline Church presents a Night of Worship, Cinco de Mayo Edition, at 6 p.m. May 5 at Shoreline Church in Uptown Station on Eglin Parkway. After worship and communion, a Cinco de Mayo party will celebrate Shoreline's eighth birthday.
