Fish Fry preserves a piece of Destin's rich history
The Destin History & Fishing Museum will host its annual Old Fashioned Fish Fry fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 15 at Harry T's Lighthouse at HarborWalk Village. The proceeds from this event benefit the restoration of the historic Primrose vessel.
The Primrose was constructed in 1924 and is the last boat of its kind. The Primrose is the centerpiece of the Destin History & Fishing Museum. Preserving and honoring the history of Destin, known as the luckiest fishing village in the world, is the Destin museum's mission.
Fried fish, fluffy hush puppies, creamy coleslaw, and hot French fries are on the menu for the event. Iced tea will be included in the price of this classic southern style meal. In addition, a cash bar tended by local "celebrities" as well as Harry T's staff will be available upstairs at a special price. Live entertainment and family fun will be found throughout the day. Businesses have the opportunity to "buy lunch for your bunch," which means boxed lunches can be purchased and then picked up on site or delivered.
Tickets are available in advance at the museum for $13, and can also be purchased the day of the event for $15. Tickets for children ages 12 or under are $5.
