Concerts in the Village announces Autumn Concert Series

Due to the popularity of the 18th annual Concerts in the Village, Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation is adding an Autumn Concert Series at 7 p.m. Sept. 1-26. MKAF recently concluded Concerts in the Village, a 10-week concert series, at the newly-opened Dugas Pavilion and expanded Village Green at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin.

“We experienced record-breaking attendance in our 18 year concert history with the recently expanded Village Green," said MKAF Executive Director Marcia Hull. "So to satisfy our members and music fans who want more concerts, we are pleased to announce a five-week autumn concert series that will kick off with a Labor Day weekend concert on Sunday, Sept. 1, followed every Thursday evening in September.”

Voted as one of the top 10 things to do in Northwest Florida by Florida Travel & Tourism Guide, Concerts in the Village has become a popular music experience that targets audiences of all ages spanning four generations. A commanding 23-foot metal sculpture identifies the entrance to The Dugas Pavilion and Village Green which is housed on nearly seven acres of green space, including a 1,924 square-foot bathroom building, 168 additional on-site grass parking spaces and more than 300 additional shared parking spaces with adjacent property owners.

The Autumn Concerts in the Village series will feature local and regional touring artists performing genres of music suitable for all ages. Celebrate the Labor Day weekend on Sunday, Sept. 1 with Lava Lamp (Top Hits from the ‘70’s); Sept. 5, the Fountain City Players (Motown, R&B, Pop, Reggae, Jazz); Sept. 12, the Modern Eldorados (Classic Country); Sept. 19, The Return (A Tribute to the Beatles); and closing out the autumn series Sept. 26 is local favorite, Dread Clampitt (bluegrass & Rock n’ Roll to Louisiana Bayou Funk). 

The Picnic Supper Club is a benefit to sponsors and available to MKAF members who wish to purchase a season table to host friends, family or clients in a cultural atmosphere. Local featured restaurants and catering partners alternate weekly serving fresh, affordable cuisine prepared on-site, and even offer a kid’s menu. Concert fans are welcome to bring their own picnic and wine or beverage of choice. Bottled water and soft drinks are available to purchase on-site with proceeds to benefit the MKAF's cultural and education mission.
