There will be plenty of fireworks in the forecast at Destin harbor.

There are plenty of ways to close out the summer in grand fashion. Here are just some of the events happening along the Emerald Coast.

Endless Summer

Kick off fall this Labor Day with a weekend of family fun, concerts and finger-licking good food at HarborWalk Village in Destin. See performances from award-winning songwriters, who have written for such music icons as George Strait, Jason Aldeen, Willie Nelson, Rascal Flats, Faith Hill, Brooks & Dunn, Toby Keith and Vince Gill. Scheduled activities include:

• Aug. 31: Songwriter performances 6:15-10 p.m. Headlined by the Andy Velo Band.

• Sept. 1: Songwriter performances 6:15-8:30 p.m. Fireworks over the harbor at 8:30 p.m., followed by more performances until 10 p.m.

Labor Day Picnic

American Legion Post 296, 311 Main Street in Destin, will hold a Labor Day Picnic and serve free hotdogs and hamburgers from 2-5 p.m. The lounge will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Call 837-3818.

Central Square Cinema

Grab your blankets and head to the Seaside Amphitheater at 8 p.m. Aug. 30 for a free Labor Day Weekend feature film, “The Truman Show,” under the stars.

Seaside Pops Concert

The Pensacola Symphony Orchestra takes the stage for a Labor Day Weekend pops concert under the stars at 7 p.m. Aug. 31 in the Seaside Amphitheater. Bring a blanket and enjoy patriotic songs and familiar melodies from some of the biggest films in history. A fireworks display closes the evening at 9 p.m. Rain date Sept. 1.

Labor Day Hometown Festival

Enjoy summer’s grand finale during the Labor Day Hometown Festival from 12-5 p.m. Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 at Bass Pro Shops that includes games and crafts, gift card giveaways and sweepstakes, as well as food sampling (free hot dogs 1-4 p.m. and homemade ice cream from 4-5 p.m.), and outdoor seminars for the whole family.  Kids can participate in the metal detector treasure hunt, casting buckets or enjoy the Daisy shooting range and duck pond game.

Other festival activities include “color a duck” crafts from 1-5 p.m. and free face painting throughout the event. Families can also visit the photo area to download a free picture where it looks like they are behind the wheel of Tony Stewart’s #14 Bass Pro Shops car. 

Baytowne Art Walk

Stroll the streets and enjoy live music from local musicians and browse a variety of art from regional artists from 5-10 p.m. Aug. 31-Sept. 1 at The Village of Baytowne Wharf Events Plaza. A variety of different mediums includes folk art, jewelry, frames and fine art.

Labor Day at WaterColor

Kids activities will run from 12-5 p.m. Aug. 31 on the WaterColor Beach Club Pool Deck. A free Labor Day Weekend Carnival will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 1 in Marina Park in WaterColor in Santa Rosa Beach. A free concert with the Flip Flop Boys takes place from 5-8 p.m. with a Beach Bonfire from 7:30-9:30 p.m. with marshmallows for roasting. Fireworks end the day at 8:30 p.m.

Patriot Day Golf

Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort has announced $20 rounds of golf to active or retired members of the U.S military Labor Day Weekend, Aug. 31- Sept. 2, at The Links Golf Club, Baytowne Golf Club, Raven Golf Club, and Burnt Pine Golf Club. The golf cart fee is included. Golfers can call 267-8155 to book their tee times.

Labor Day concert

Sturgill Simpson performs at the Labor Day Weekend Concert at 7 p.m. Sept. 1 in North Barrett Square in Rosemary Beach. On-lawn seating at the free event.

Lakeyard Labor Day in DeFuniak

The DeFuniak Springs Business and Professional Association hosts the 24th annual Labor Day Celebration beginning at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 1 with a parade starting at Walton Middle School. Other events include rocking entertainment, children’s activities, fireworks and more. Opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. Fireworks after dark. Call 830-1661. To sign up for the parade call 892-3950. No personal fireworks allowed in the lake yard. This event replaces rained out Fourth of July event.

Labor Day at Carillon Beach

Enjoy gumbo, arts and crafts, a farmers market, and live music from The Rowdies from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 1 at Carillon Beach Resort. Market opens at 8 a.m. with gumbo judging at 2 p.m. Winners announced at 7 p.m. by surprise celebrity judge. Entry fee is $50. Email or call 530-440-5883.

Concert and Fireworks

Bring the family for a night of fun from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Alys Beach Amphitheatre on Somerset Street in Alys Beach. The Atlanta Allstars will perform followed by a fireworks display at 8:45 p.m.
