The Emerald Coast Parrot Head Club hosts its 11th annual Chili Cook-Off from 12-4 p.m. Feb. 22 at HarborWalk Village at Destin harbor. Live music by Continuum furnishes the music. Crab Island Cantina presents “So You Think You’re Funny,” a comedy competition, at 6 p.m. every Sunday through March 9. Sign up at 5 p.m. Comedians from all over the south will compete. A Symphony of Taste
The Northwest Florida Symphony Guild’s food and wine tasting festival, “A Symphony of Taste,” will be held from1-4 p.m. Feb. 23 on the Niceville campus of NWFSC in the Student Services Center. The annual event raises funds for the regional orchestra and youth musical endeavors in Okaloosa and Walton County. A silent auction will be held with entertainment by jazz pianist Sean Dietrich. Tickets are $35/advance and $40/door and are on sale in Niceville at Bayou Books, in Fort Walton Beach at Playground Music, Vandergriff Jewelers, and the Magnolia Grill, and in Destin/South Walton at the Groovy Grouper Grill in Destin Commons and at Chan’s Wine World in Grand Boulevard and Destin. Sherlock Holmes Society
The “Beach Hounds” will have their yearly meeting at 5 p.m. Feb. 24 at Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club (The Vue Restaurant), 4801 West County Road 30-A in Santa Rosa Beach. NWFSC PRIME Time will host its annual art show from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 27 on the Niceville campus. A reception will be hosted in honor of the students and they will receive prizes for their work. This event is free and open to the public.
Americana Under The Stars
Achilles Wheel performs from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 27 in the amphitheater at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in Santa Rosa Beach. Bring a chair and beverage. Free admission into park and a suggested donation of $5 goes to the Friends of Topsail Hill.
Coffee on the Coast
See how the training staff provides daily care for the dolphins and other animals at Coffee on the Coast from 9-11 a.m. Feb. 27 at Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park on Okaloosa Island. With paid admission, enjoy free coffee and muffins. A special program at 9:30 a.m. includes:
Award-winning cellist Boyan Bonev, a music instructor at the University of West Florida and a member of the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, will perform in a free recital at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27 in the Tyler Recital Hall at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on the Niceville campus of NWFSC.
