Gimme Abbey concert celebrates The Beatles and The Rolling Stones

Special to The Log

The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation and Ocean Reef Vacation Rentals and Realty will present Gimme Abbey, a tribute to the two greatest bands in rock and roll history, at 7 p.m. April 24 at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village. The Return and Satisfaction, two nationally acclaimed tribute bands, have joined forces for this special tribute that takes audiences back to the 60’s.

“We are extremely excited to secure this nationally touring program, which also coincides with the 50th anniversary celebration of the Beatles performance on the Ed Sullivan Show,” said Marcia Hull, CEO of the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation. “We’ve heard from the community they want more live music at the Cultural Arts Village and we’re focused on bringing music which appeals to all ages.”

“Anyone who came of age during the 60’s remembers watching The Ed Sullivan Show on Feb. 9, 1964, when they got a first look at The Beatles and heard, ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’. Since then many generations have enjoyed a special connection and appreciation for The Beatles.”

Two of the finest tribute bands, The Return embracing Beatlemania and Satisfaction who personify the Rolling Stones, bring back 1969 in this dream concert. The Return, which got its start in 1995 when four young friends got together to play their favorite Beatles songs, has become one of the most recognized and respected Beatles tribute bands. The Return has performed private concerts at Abbey Road Studios in London as well as at the Cavern in Liverpool, England. In addition, they’ve headlined the 40th anniversary celebration of the Beatles’ visit to Tokyo and served as the official band of the Hard Rock Café’s 30th Anniversary Celebration.

Satisfaction is equally as renowned and respected. With hundreds of performances around the world, Satisfaction is internationally acclaimed as the most authentic cast and production show honoring the Rolling Stones today. These talented musicians create an incredibly authentic portrayal of the original band members’ appearance, sound and mannerism.

The Cultural Arts Village features unique amenities for all ages, creating an enjoyable cultural experience. Concert fans are welcome to bring their own picnic and wine or beverage of choice or fresh cuisine will be served on-site by local restaurants. Water, soft drinks and beer and wine by the bottle are available to purchase on-site.

Gimme Abbey will have audiences dancing and singing to some of the best rock music of our time. Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation invites members, residents and visitors alike to come together and get satisfied with Gimme Abbey. Admission is $18 per adult, $15 for MKAF members and children under 12 are free.
