Call for Entries: Pastel Society

The Pastel Society of North Florida has issued a call for entries, soft pastels only, by Aug. 15 for the National Juried Exhibition to be held Oct. 26-Dec. 6 at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville. More than $5,000 will be awarded.

Symphony Chorale auditions

The Northwest Florida Symphony Chorale will hold open auditions for vocalists at 6 p.m. Aug. 19 in Tyler Recital Hall in the music wing of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on the Niceville campus of NWFSC.

The Chorale, under the direction of music professor Lois (Van Dam) Henry, is a select choral group which performs with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra as well as in independent concerts. The group will perform in November featuring Part I of Handle’s Messiah along with a work to be announced and will also perform in the mainstage theater of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra in December for a Holiday Pops concert.

Auditions for Seaside Nutcracker

Seaside will host auditions for the Third Annual Seaside Nutcracker from 5-6 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Seaside Assembly Hall, 168 Smolian Circle in Santa Rosa Beach. Dancers ages 8 to 18 from the Northwest Florida regions are eligible to participate in auditions.

The one-time performance of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker in Seaside is scheduled for Nov. 22 and will feature Act II. The performance will be free and open to the public.

 Baytowne Art Walk

The Village of Baytowne Wharf welcomes the fall season under the moonlight with a weekend good for the art and soul. Stroll the streets and enjoy live music from local musicians and browse a variety of art from regional artists at the Baytowne Art Walk from 5-10 p.m. Aug. 29-31. The event is free.

Call to Artists: Oktoberfest

The 20th annual Oktoberfest and Arts & Crafts Festival is looking for artists and craftsman interested in selling their work. The event will be held at Winn Dixie Plaza in Bluewater Bay from 5-10 p.m. Sept. 26 and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 27. The festival is sponsored by the Mid-Bay Rotary Club. Cost for the two-day event is $100. If interested, call 897-3190 to obtain an application. Deadline to enter is Sept. 11, but most spaces are usually full by Sept. 1.
