Music in the air makes Wednesdays fun
Enjoy the continuation of the Wednesday Night Concert Series through the months of August and September. Musicians will entertain homeowners, locals, and guests with a variety of music styles. The concerts are free, from 7-9 p.m. in the Events Plaza at the Village of Baytowne Wharf.
August 6 | Lauren St. Jane
From the southern roots of Georgia comes Lauren St. Jane with her own combination of country swagger and Americana rock. This fiery, female-fronted band offers a raw sound complimented by strong, alluring vocals, ripping licks, and lyrics you’d expect from a true redhead. In both song and show, Lauren St. Jane is a collective drink that goes down smooth but leaves a beckoning burn for more — a classic country shot with a modern Americana aftertaste.
August 13 | Betty Fox Band
With an extensive background in gospel and a lifelong passion for soul music, Betty Fox has burst onto the Florida music scene in a whirlwind of controlled yet unabashed passion and has taken the hearts of anyone wise enough to lend her their ear. The band has performed on festivals with Lord Huron, Ozomalti, Black Joe Lewis and the Honey Bears, Best Coast, Dawes, and The Meter Men, for crowds amassing more than 6,000 screaming fans. You definitely don’t want to miss this one of a kind musical experience!
August 20 | Soul Track Mind
Recently featured on the cover of Texas Music magazine, Soul Track Mind has made a name for themselves by blending ‘60s and ‘70s era soul and R&B with flares of jazz, blues, funk and dance rhythms and a sound deeply rooted in retro convictions that still manages to feel fresh and modern. Over the last few years, whirlwind front man Donovan Keith and the dapper disciples of Soul Track Mind have become synonymous with raucously entertaining shows. Since releasing their debut album, Ghost of Soul, Soul Track Mind has become a force to reckon with in the modern soul genre.
August 27 | Big Al & The Heavyweights
From Cajun to Zydeco to Blues to Rock and everything in between, Big Al & the Heavyweights offer a musical gumbo sure to please all. Formed in 1996 as the Unknown Blues Band, with founding members Big Al Lauro, Warren Haynes (Allman Bros, Gov’t Mule), Rick Gergen (Sweethearts of the Rodeo), the band has been featured at festivals and venues throughout the U.S. Their live performances are family oriented, energetic and most of all fun.
September 3 | Big Easy Playboys
The Big Easy Playboys are based in New Orleans but draw heavily on the Cajun/Zydeco culture that thrives all around the state. Incorporating the classic instruments of Cajun accordion and fiddle with the bluesy/roots rock sound of guitars and pulsing drums, ‘Louisiana Roots’ gives the listeners a dose of the music that lives and breathes life into the Big Easy and the surrounding communities.
September 10 | Delta Reign
As five rivers flow together into Mobile Bay to form the delta, so Delta Reign brings together the musical influences of each member ... bluegrass, western swing, blues and jazz. It’s being called, “swinging bluegrass” or ‘”delta bluegrass.”
September 17 | Donnie Sundal
His voice and sound is soulful, funky, and always rock solid. Donnie’s ability to weave seamlessly among genres allows him to perform with many of today’s well known artists, Junior Marvin (Bob Marley and the Wailers), Sam Bush, Col. Bruce Hampton and Jojo Herman.
