Act4Murder — Cheyenne Sassy (Kristi Morris) and Deneeze Areshot (Susan DeJesus) square off when Act4Murder performs “Horsin’ Around with Murder” at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at Angler’s Beachside Grill on Okaloosa Island. Red, White and Blue Celebration

The Red, White and Blue Celebration at HarborWalk Village from 6-10 p.m. will honor Okaloosa County teachers on Aug. 14. Enjoy live entertainment, free kid’s crafts and face painting, a WWII replica flyover and fireworks over the harbor at 9 p.m.

The school with the most spirit at the event will win an Inspiron 1500Dell laptop computer for their school staff. Everyone attending will receive free Blue Bell Ice Cream.  

Stage Crafters

The Odd Couple (female version) will be presented by Stage Crafters Community Theatre Aug. 15-17 at the Fort Walton Beach Civic Auditorium. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Call 243-1101 for ticket information.

Art exhibit

Santa Rosa Beach artist and cartoonist, Mark Douglass, shows off his “serious side” in an exhibition of colorful acrylic paintings on display in the Calhoun Room at the Destin Library during the month of August.

Paddle at the Porch

The Third Paddle at the Porch will take place Aug. 16 in the waters behind The Back Porch Seafood & Oyster House in Destin for all ages and skill levels. The event features one mile and three mile recreational races and a six mile elite race, to be followed by awards, including a $5,000 cash purse. For the 3- and 6-mile races, the cost is $60 before Aug. 16 and $75 on race day.  For the 1-mile race, the cost is $48 before Aug. 16 and $55 on race day.  Registration may be completed on Active.com or download a race brochure from PaddleAtThePorch.com.

Rock the Docks

Enjoy an open air free concert with the Season Ammons Band from 7-9 p.m. Aug. 16 on the main stage at HarborWalk Village, with live music at seven venues, clubs and restaurants during the evening. Concerts are held every Saturday during the summer.ArtWalk on the Harbor

Local and regional artists and vendors display their work at ArtWalk on the Harbor from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 17 from HarborWalk Village to AJ’s. The event is free.

Dinner theater

Act4Murder and Crab Island Cantina present “Knock ‘Em Dead” at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at 2 Harbor Blvd. #100. Seating at 7 p.m. Price is $49.95/adults and $24.95/kids 10 and under, all inclusive. Call 862-2885 for reservations.

American Legion

Enjoy Karaoke by Marquette from 7:30-11 p.m. Aug. 15 at American Legion Post 296, 311 Main Street in Destin. Pizza and hotdogs are sold from 1-8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 837-3818.

Window display

During August, the Arts and Design Society, 17 First Street, SE in Fort Walton Beach, presents the art of the students in Thalia Newton's Crash Glass Mosaics classes in the studio windows facing First Street.

Fat Tuesday Parade

HarborWalk Village becomes “The Big Easy” at 7 p.m. every Tuesday with floats, beads and lots of swag, a performance by the Village Brass Band on the main stage, and a fire dancing show. Event is free.

Tuesday Night Movies

The Lighthouse Amphitheater at Shoreline Village in Destin hosts free family movies on Tuesday nights. Bring blankets and chairs. Food, drinks and snacks, even hamburgers wine and beer, can be bought before and during the movie just like any other theater. No outside food or drink allowed.
