Red, White and Blue Celebration

The Red, White and Blue Celebration at HarborWalk Village, a weekly honoring of a local hero, will be held from 6-10 p.m. Aug. 28. Enjoy live entertainment, free kid’s crafts and face painting, a WWII replica flyover and fireworks over the harbor at 9 p.m.

Grand opening

Meritage Spa, 12469 Emerald Coast Parkway, Suite 102, in Miramar Beach, will hold a ribbon cutting and grand opening from 5-7:30 p.m. Aug. 28. Sinfonia will provide music. RSVP at schilders@coastalskinsurgery.com.

American Legion

Tuesday Night Movies

The Lighthouse Amphitheater at Shoreline Village in Destin hosts free family movies on Tuesday nights. Bring blankets and chairs. Food, drinks and snacks, even hamburgers wine and beer, can be bought before and during the movie just like any other theater. No outside food or drink allowed. Greek Festival

Celebrate A Taste of Greece during the 23rd Annual Greek Festival from 4-9 p.m. Aug. 29, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Aug. 30 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 31 at the Emerald Coast Convention Center on Okaloosa island. Taste Greek foods, desserts, and drinks while listening to the sounds of the Kosta Kastanis Band. Enjoy performances by Greek folk dancers and browse crafts and goods by local and national vendors.

Baytowne Art Walk

Stroll the streets and enjoy live music from local musicians and browse a variety of art from regional artists at the Baytowne Art Walk from 5-10 p.m. Aug. 29-31. The event is free. An intimate, evening art experience, the Baytowne Art Walk strives to create an event that appeals to all ages and demographics.

Concerts in the Village

Enjoy live music under the stars with Almost at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village during Labor Day Weekend from 7-9 p.m. Aug. 31 at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village, 4323 Commons Drive West in Destin. Bring your favorite chair, a bottle of wine and a picnic dinner, or purchase dinner prepared fresh on-site. Admission is $20/person or $15/MKAF members. Free for children under 12. 

Dinner theater

Act4Murder and Crab Island Cantina present “Podunk Pandemonium” at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at 2 Harbor Blvd. #100. Seating at 7 p.m. Price is $49.95/adults and $24.95/kids 10 and under, all inclusive. Call 862-2885 for reservations.

Talk Like a Pirate Day

A festival of all things pirate includes live entertainment, kids’ interactive pirate shows and games plus fireworks over the harbor from 7-10 p.m. Sept. 19 at HarborWalk Village.

Healing with Art

A local art show and sale begins Sept. 19 in the second floor atrium at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week for three months.

Flow Tribe

The band will appear Sept. 20 at Boshamps Seafood and Oyster House in Destin for the first Choctawhatchee Watershed Music Festival to benefit the health and sustainability of local waterways. All proceeds from the sale of wristbands, $20 each, will be donated to CBA to carry out the mission and objectives of our organization.

ArtWalk on the Harbor

Local and regional artists and vendors display their work at ArtWalk on the Harbor from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 21 and Oct.19 from HarborWalk Village to AJ’s. The event is free.

Hispanic Fest

Hispanic Fest, a family-oriented, cultural and educational festival, will showcase Hispanic music, folkloric dances, arts and crafts, exhibits, and the flavors and aromas of the cuisine from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Emerald Coast Convention Center on Okaloosa Island. Special appearances by non-Hispanic performers and dance groups will also take place. Proceeds from the event will benefit United for a Good Cause Inc.

Festival of the Arts

Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation presents the 19th Annual Festival of the Arts Oct. 25-26 at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin. The event showcases the original artwork of more than 100 juried artists from across the U.S. who will compete for $10,000 in cash award prizes. Festival features include live music, art activities for kids, souvenir posters and T-shirts, art raffle and more. A food bistro, wine bar and beer garden as well as convenient parking and motor coach shuttle are also available. Admission is $3/adult; children 12 and under are free.

Bourbon at the Bay

Sip on bourbon and scotch, enjoy hors d’oeuvres, and start holiday shopping early during the second Bourbon at the Bay from 5:30-8 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Regatta Bay Golf & Country Club, 465 Regatta Bay Blvd. in Destin. A champagne tasting and silent auction complete the evening. This event is open to the public.
