American Legion
Enjoy Karaoke by Marquette from 7:30-11 p.m. Aug. 22 and 29 at American Legion Post 296, 311 Main Street in Destin. Pizza and hotdogs are sold from 1-8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 837-3818.
Star gazing
Henderson Beach State Park will host a star gazing program for all ages from 5-10 p.m. Aug. 22. Telescopes will be available for public viewing of star clusters, planets, and galaxies. Prior to sunset, telescopes will be equipped for safe viewing of the sun. All those attending should arrive prior to sunset. Call 837-7550 for sunset time.
Splash series
Cruise up and anchor your boat Aug. 23 at Crab Island for the movie “Jaws” at sunset for Shark Month.
Art exhibit
Santa Rosa Beach artist and cartoonist, Mark Douglass, shows off his “serious side” in an exhibition of colorful acrylic paintings on display in the Calhoun Room at the Destin Library during the month of August.
Rock the Docks
Last change to enjoy an open air free concert with the Jacob Mohr Band from 7-9 p.m. Aug. 23 on the main stage at HarborWalk Village, with live music at seven venues, clubs and restaurants during the evening.
Fish Fry
Haven 4 All, a motorcycle riding group dedicated to giving back to the community, will hold a Fish Fry to benefit Covenant Hospice from 3-7 p.m. Aug. 24 at On The Edge, 114-A Edge Ave. in Niceville. Fish plates are $8 each and beverages will be available for purchase. Johnnie Lee provides music and a 50/50 drawing will also be held. Proceeds from the dinner and drawing will be donated to Covenant Hospice. Call 374-2989.
Dinner theater

Window display
During August, the Arts and Design Society, 17 First Street, SE in Fort Walton Beach, presents the art of the students in Thalia Newton's Crash Glass Mosaics classes in the studio windows facing First Street.
Fat Tuesday Parade
HarborWalk Village becomes “The Big Easy” at 7 p.m. Aug. 26 with floats, beads and lots of swag, a performance by the Village Brass Band on the main stage, and a fire dancing show. Event is free.
Tuesday Night Movies
The Lighthouse Amphitheater at Shoreline Village in Destin hosts free family movies on Tuesday nights. Bring blankets and chairs. Food, drinks and snacks, even hamburgers wine and beer, can be bought before and during the movie just like any other theater. No outside food or drink allowed.
