The Friends Guild of the Destin Library, Inc. will sponsor a monthly movie night featuring independent films and documentaries on the third Tuesday of each month beginning at 4 p.m. The film series may occasionally feature a foreign film. The Friends Guild’s goal is to provide area residents with the opportunity to view films that are in limited release and/or unlikely to be shown in local theaters. The next film, The Lunchbox, will be offered Sept.16. The program is free and open to the public. Films are unrated and directed toward mature audiences. Seating will be limited to 30 on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Lunchbox is a drama/romance concerns the mistaken delivery in Mumbai’s famously efficient lunchbox delivery system that connects Ila, a neglected housewife, to Saajan (Irrfan Khan), a lonely man on the verge of retirement. Through a series of exchanged notes that they pass back and forth through the lunches, Saajan and Ila find comfort in their unexpected friendship.

Gradually, their notes become little confessions about their loneliness, memories, regrets, fears, and even small joys. They each discover a new sense of self and find an anchor to hold on to in the big city of Mumbai that so often crushes hopes and dreams. Still strangers physically, Ila and Saajan become lost in their virtual relationship that could jeopardize both their realities.
