Healing with Art

A local art show and sale begins Sept. 19 in the second floor atrium at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week for three months.

Flow Tribe

The band will appear Sept. 20 at Boshamps Seafood and Oyster House in Destin for the first Choctawhatchee Watershed Music Festival to benefit the health and sustainability of local waterways. All proceeds from the sale of wristbands, $20 each, will be donated to CBA to carry out the mission and objectives of our organization.

ArtWalk on the Harbor

Local and regional artists and vendors display their work at ArtWalk on the Harbor from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 21 and Oct.19 from HarborWalk Village to AJ’s. The event is free.

Hispanic Fest

Hispanic Fest, a family-oriented, cultural and educational festival, will showcase Hispanic music, folkloric dances, arts and crafts, exhibits, and the flavors and aromas of the cuisine from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Emerald Coast Convention Center on Okaloosa Island. Special appearances by non-Hispanic performers and dance groups will also take place. Proceeds from the event will benefit United for a Good Cause Inc.

Celebrity Server Luncheon

Be a champion of children’s art education and support the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s “All Kinds of Art” children’s programming Sept. 24 at Bonefish Grill during the Celebrity Server Luncheon.


The 20th annual Oktoberfest takes place from 5-10 p.m. Sept. 26 and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 27 at Market Place near Winn-Dixie on Highway 20 in Bluewater Bay. Enjoy live music, entertainment for adults and children, arts and crafts, soft drinks, bratwurst, hotdogs, baked chicken and beer. All proceeds go to local charities. Admission is free.

Play That Funky Music

The Arts and Design Society’s “Play That Funky Music” show will be held through Oct. 3 at 17 First Street in Fort Walton Beach. The exhibition features works in any medium, reflecting the influence of the artists’ favorite music. Call 244-1271.

Festival of the Arts

Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation presents the 19th Annual Festival of the Arts Oct. 25-26 at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin. The event showcases the original artwork of more than 100 juried artists from across the U.S. who will compete for $10,000 in cash award prizes. Festival features include live music, art activities for kids, souvenir posters and T-shirts, art raffle and more. A food bistro, wine bar and beer garden as well as convenient parking and motor coach shuttle are also available. Admission is $3/adult; children 12 and under are free.

Circus of the Stars

Destin Beer Festival

The Fifth Annual Destin Beer Festival, benefitting the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation, will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sept. 27 at Wine World Destin in Paradise Key Shopping Center. The event will feature high-end craft and microbrews, music by Boukou Groove, and food from Boshamps Seafood & Oyster House, The Craft Bar, La Paz Restaurant & Candina and Longleaf Food Truck. Arts Show/Reception

The 31st Northwest Florida Tri-County Fair Fine Arts Show is scheduled from 5-10 p.m. Sept. 29-Oct. 3 and 2-10 p.m. Oct. 4 at C.H. Bull Rigdon Fairgrounds and Recreation Complex, 1958 Lewis Turner Blvd. in Fort Walton Beach. Opening reception is from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 28.  Artworks in every medium will be on display; high school and middle school art will be a special feature.

Mullet Festival

The enduring formula of top notch entertainment, great seafood, and superior arts and crafts offers all-around family fun at the 38th Annual Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival Oct. 17-19 at the intersection of Hwy. 85 N and College Road in Niceville. Ticket prices (including concerts) for ages 12 and over are $10 per day, except for Friday and Saturday after 5 p.m. when the price is $15. Blue Angels

Naval Air Station Pensacola will host the annual Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show Nov. 7-9 with the Navy’s Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, performing on Saturday and Sunday, along with aerobatics by performers. Friday night’s show features a Fire & Lights night pyro show. Admission and parking is free. Food and memorabilia will be available. Pets and coolers are not permitted.

Bourbon at the Bay

Sip on bourbon and scotch, enjoy hors d’oeuvres, and start holiday shopping early during the second Bourbon at the Bay from 5:30-8 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Regatta Bay Golf & Country Club, 465 Regatta Bay Blvd. in Destin. A champagne tasting and silent auction complete the evening. This event is open to the public.
