Call to Artists: Oktoberfest

The 20th annual Oktoberfest and Arts & Crafts Festival is looking for artists and craftsman interested in selling their work. The event will be held at Winn Dixie Plaza in Bluewater Bay from 5-10 p.m. Sept. 26 and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 27. The festival is sponsored by the Mid-Bay Rotary Club. Cost for the two-day event is $100. If interested, call 897-3190 to obtain an application. Deadline to enter is Sept. 11, but most spaces are usually full by Sept. 1.

Call to Artist: Adult Collaborative Artists for Festival of the Arts

The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation is now accepting applications for the Adult Collaborative Exhibit component of the 19th annual Festival of the Arts, Oct. 25-26, at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin.

Artwork should be of an artistic caliber associated with a juried fine art show. Artists selected to show in the Adult Collaborative Exhibit can display and sell up to three pieces of artwork. 

Judges will award $10,000 in cash prizes to artists in four categories. 

The competition is open to the first 20 eligible applicants; entry fee is $30 per person. The application deadline is Sept. 25, 2014. To receive an application, contact Deb Nissley at the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation at 850-650-2226.

Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival

The 38th Annual Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival Arts & Crafts Show scheduled for Oct. 17, 18 and 19 in Niceville is still accepting applicants. The show is an invitation only show and is open to artists/craftsmen with original works which are the exclusive creations of the exhibitor. 

Prospective participants should submit three clear photos of their work and complete a brief narrative on the pre-application form.  The photos should be representative of the greater part of the work being displayed and must be the original work of the applicant.  Kit works, manufactured, commercial, or import items are not allowed.

Call to Artists: NWF Tri-County Fair Fine Arts Show

The Arts and Design Society is calling all artists to participate in the upcoming 31st Northwest Florida Tri-County Fair Fine Arts Show, open to all artists, in any medium. Artists must turn in works for the show from 12-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 27 at C.H. Bull Rigdon Fairgrounds and Recreation Complex, 1958 Lewis Turner Blvd. in Fort Walton Beach.

Entry fee for adults is $25/up to 5 pieces; high school and middle school students, $2/piece, up to 5 pieces.

Call for Volunteers

Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation needs volunteers for the 19th Annual Festival of the Arts to be held Oct. 25 and 26 at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin.

Various shifts are available including set up and break down, main entry, artist relief, ArtStop children’s tent and beverage booths. All volunteers are welcome to arrive prior to their assigned shift or after their morning shift to visit the artists and enjoy the festival. 

Opportunities are available for students looking to donate their time in exchange for community service hours.

Festival features include a food bistro, wine & beer garden, live music, art activities for kids, souvenir posters and T-shirts, art raffle and more. Free shuttle service and convenient on-site parking is also available. Admission is free to MKAF members and children under 12; and $3 for adult/non-members.

Call to Artists: Inspired by Jean Michel Basquiat

The Arts and Design Society is inviting all artists to participate in their upcoming show, “Inspired by Jean Michel Basquiat,” in which all entries in any medium are to reflect the influence of the artist Jean Michel Basquiat. Turn in work from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 4 or 6.

Call to Artists: Southeastern Juried Fine Arts Exhibition

The Arts and Design Society is inviting artists across the Southeast to submit works for the 23rd Southeast Regional Juried Fine Arts Exhibition, hosted by Northwest Florida State College and sponsored by the Arts and Design Society.

JPEG images are due by midnight Nov. 1 for the Exhibition, which runs from Jan. 12 through Feb. 13. Entry fee is ADSO members/$35, non-members/$40, with a limit of three entries.

Juror for the event is Julie Bowland, professor of Art and director of the Valdosta State University Fine Arts Gallery, in Valdosta, Ga., and winner of many art awards, with her artwork exhibited nationally.

Call to Artists: Destin Library

The Destin Library has issued a call to area artists inviting them to schedule an exhibit at the library.
