Club LA

Kingnaldo will perform at Club LA in Destin Oct. 9. His music is dynamic and his lyrics are dark in a positive way, touching on human rights and self completion as a main source for freedom.

Duck Regatta

The Fourth Annual Emerald Coast Duck Regatta begins at 10 a.m. Oct. 11 in the Events Plaza at Baytowne Wharf with kid activities including a scavenger hunt and face painting. Nonie's Ark Animal Encounters will be on site from 10:30-11:30 a.m.  Children ride free on the Baytowne Carousel from 11 a.m. to noon. The race of 5,000 rubber ducks begins at 1 p.m. across the Lagoon. Proceeds will help fund new and/or improved hospital services at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. Star Gazing by the Shore

A star gazing program will be held from 3-10 p.m. Oct. 17 at Henderson Beach State Park. Several telescopes for public viewing of star clusters, planets, and galaxies will be set up and volunteers will answer questions about the night sky. Also, prior to sunset, their telescopes will be equipped for safe viewing of the sun. The park will close at sunset which is 6:14 p.m. All those attending the star gaze should arrive prior to sunset. Bring a picnic.

Snow White

The Northwest Florida Ballet presents the Brothers Grimm’s “Snow White,” at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18 and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center in Niceville. Purchase tickets at nfballet.org.

Window display

During October, the Arts and Design Society, 17 First Street, SE in Fort Walton Beach, presents the art of students in Sherry Cooler’s Story Box classes. Each clay box has its creator’s story carved into the side, as well as embellishments to enhance the story.

Dream Catcher Concert

Act4 Murder

Festival of the Arts

Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation presents the 19th Annual Festival of the Arts Oct. 25-26 at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin. The event showcases the original artwork of more than 100 juried artists from across the U.S. who will compete for $10,000 in cash award prizes. Festival features include live music, art activities for kids, souvenir posters and T-shirts, art raffle and more. A food bistro, wine bar and beer garden as well as convenient parking and motor coach shuttle are also available. Admission is $3/adult; children 12 and under are free.

Arts Show/Reception

The 31st Northwest Florida Tri-County Fair Fine Arts Show is scheduled from 5-10 p.m. Sept. 29-Oct. 3 and 2-10 p.m. Oct. 4 at C.H. Bull Rigdon Fairgrounds and Recreation Complex, 1958 Lewis Turner Blvd. in Fort Walton Beach. Opening reception is from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 28.  Artworks in every medium will be on display; high school and middle school art will be a special feature.

A+ Art show/sale

The A+ Art “One Size Fits All” show and sale at Northwest Florida State College, South Walton Center, 109 Greenway Trail in Santa Rosa Beach, runs through Dec. 8. This second annual show is comprised of more than a hundred 10-inch by 10-inch wood panels, featuring the fine and funky work of more than 50 local artists.

Baytowne Beer Fest

The Seventh Annual Baytowne Wharf Beer Fest festival features 40 on-site craft brewers, more than 200 domestic and international beers, seminars and samplings and live music Oct. 17 and 18. Pick up your cards at the Events Plaza Stage for the first ever Beer Bingo from 6-9:30 p.m. Oct. 17. Visit merchants to complete a BINGO and a chance to win prizes. Mullet Festival

The enduring formula of top notch entertainment, great seafood, and superior arts and crafts offers all-around family fun at the 38th Annual Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival Oct. 17-19 at the intersection of Hwy. 85 N and College Road in Niceville. Ticket prices (including concerts) for ages 12 and over are $10 per day, except for Friday and Saturday after 5 p.m. when the price is $15. Kitty HawkKite Festival

Enjoy the sites of kites of all sizes and shapes being flown over the harbor from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 18 at HarborWalk Village. There will be professional stunt kite flying and demonstrations, RC demos, kite making contests and games for all ages.

ArtWalk on the Harbor

Local and regional artists and vendors display their work at ArtWalk on the Harbor from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 19 and Nov. 16 from HarborWalk Village to AJ’s. The event is free.

Pastel demonstration

The Pastel Society of North Florida will have a free pastel demonstration by Frank Federico 2-5 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Cultural Arts Alliance Bayou Arts Center in Santa Rosa Beach. Federico is a Pastel Society of America master pastelist, PSA Hall of Fame Honoree 2012 and nationally renowned instructor. Call 334-400-2771.

Pastel Society

The Pastel Society of North Florida presents its 12th Biennial National All Pastel Juried Exhibition from Oct. 26 to Dec. 6 in the Mattie Kelly Arts Center's Mcllroy and Holzhauer Galleries at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville. Many of the artists’ works will be available for purchase. The opening awards reception will be held from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 26 in the galleries. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Art display

Local Color Artists Club will display their art during November at the Walton County Coastal Branch Library. Expect to see a variety of techniques and mediums including watercolors, acrylics, oils, pastels, batik, possibly encaustics and crash glass. Call 678-4813.

Wine Walkabout

Wine tastings, gourmet appetizers, live music, a charity raffle and more highlight the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s Wine Walkabout Nov. 6 in the East Bar and Courtyard at Ruth’s Christ Steak House in Destin.

Blue Angels

Naval Air Station Pensacola will host the annual Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show Nov. 7-9 with the Navy’s Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, performing on Saturday and Sunday, along with aerobatics by performers. Friday night’s show features a Fire & Lights night pyro show. Admission and parking is free. Food and memorabilia will be available. Pets and coolers are not permitted.

Blues, Brews and BBQ

Local restaurants fire up the grills for a fun BBQ competition and a good cause from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 8 at HarborWalk Village. Try samples of creative BBQ styles and signature coastal food. Prizes will be awarded including “Best Traditional BBQ,” “Best Seafood BBQ,” and “Most Original BBQ.”

Bourbon at the Bay

Sip on bourbon and scotch, enjoy hors d’oeuvres, and start holiday shopping early during the second Bourbon at the Bay from 5:30-8 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Regatta Bay Golf & Country Club, 465 Regatta Bay Blvd. in Destin. A champagne tasting and silent auction complete the evening. This event is open to the public.

Sounds of the Season

The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s 18th annual holiday music spectacular will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at Village Baptist Church in Destin.
